Crispy Wings at Chicken Charlie

A new chicken wing craze can be found in Chicken Charlie located at N. S. Amoranto (former Retiro) St. corner Banawe St. They serve chicken wings and drumsticks (and they don't serve any other food besides these).

On their menu: it's just really simple, you can choose from wings or drumsticks or both plus their sides (fries or pickled radish). And if you're feeling hungry, there's always the value meal which is rice topped with chicken.

Here it is, this is the Combo 2 which consisted of 4 wings and 2 drumsticks. You can choose between soy garlic sauce and hot sweet sauce (they put toothpicks on the hot sweet chickens). As promised by their posters and adverts, their chicken really are crispy! It has a super thin layer of batter that makes the chicken so noisily crispy. The taste however is just so-so (I was expecting a bit more. Maybe it would be better if the chicken would be marinated.). I just noticed that some items are labeled that it comes with a side of pickled radish but there wasn't one. Oh well.

Here's the fries coated in salt and to be dipped in ketchup. Not so great either. But it's real potatoes so I'd give plus points for that. Then again, the portion is too small for the price.

It is true (as what this poster is telling us) that the chicken isn't greasy at all! No oil dripping from my fingers. And they also said that it's 0% trans fat but this not mean it doesn't have cholesterol. I wonder if they use fresh oil every time an order comes in (that would be loads healthier!).

Overall, I like their crispy chicken perfect for a lazy evening snack. Cruuunch! =)
